Student Health is Our Concern

A Complete Student Meal Consists of: Meat, Fruit, Vegetable, Grain and Milk. Students must take a minimum of three of the Five Food Components with 1 being a 1/2 cup fruit or vegetable. 

Chanute Public Schools' Child Nutrition and Wellness Department staff are dedicated to serving breakfasts and lunches to students that meet federal nutrition standards and taste good. In compliance with the state and federal guidelines on children's health and fitness, students are required to choose a 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetable as one of their lunch choices and 1/2 cup fruit at breakfast. 

We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet their health and nutrition needs, and
 support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
